We went into Labour on a Saturday and I managed my pain by listening to your relaxation track, hot showers and a tens machine. I wasn’t able to keep any food down which was a sign that my body was preparing for baby’s arrival!
As things ramped up Kcarl got the birthing pool ready and the midwife must have arrived to our home around 10pm. As per our birth plan, she left me to it. No VE’s, no gas and air, just warm water in the pool, music that made me happy, a dark room, the plastic comb you’d posted us and breathing to try and stay relaxed, calm and focused.
Each stage of Labour was hard work - mentally and physically, and every stage that came after, it got more intense. It was an amazing experience - I can only describe it as an out of body experience ? I made noises I’d never heard before and knew what to do; even when I was saying I couldn’t do it!
Kayden arrived safely at home at 9.09 on Sunday morning, followed by physiological delivery of my placenta and lots of skin to skin.
Our most preferred birth plan was achieved and this wouldn’t have been possible without your help and course. We were able to make informed decisions, 3 birth plans which we calmly explained to our midwife (one for our most preferred home birth, our second preference of a birthing centre birth and the third preference of a c section) and we headed into Labour feeling empowered and excited.
This was our first birth and we were often told it may not be possible to birth at home but we are grateful that it was possible for us, and glad we put so much energy and effort into educating ourselves and preparing.
Thank you for all of the information & resources you provided us, for always getting back to my many messages/ questions via WhatsApp and for making us feel so comfortable throughout the zoom sessions Anna. We are so so grateful ❤️
